NEW DELHI: Indian Air Force’s (IAF) MiG-29 fighter jet crashed near Barmer in Rajasthan on Monday. The crash took place during a routine exercise.
The IAF said that the pilot was safe and that there had been no loss of life or property.
“During a routine night training mission in Barmer sector, an IAF MiG-29 encountered a critical technical snag, forcing the pilot to eject.The pilot is safe and no loss of life or property was reported. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered,” the IAF said on X.
In June, a Sukhoi fighter plane crashed at a farm in Niphad taluka of Nashik district.
The pilot and the co-pilot ejected well in time and fortunately escaped with only minor injuries. The incident took place around 1.20 pm.
Police inspector Durgesh Tiwari of the Pimpalgaon Baswant police station said the fighter plane crashed in a tomato field of Dnyaneshwar More in Shirasgaon village part of the Niphad tehsil.
The police and revenue officers rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed about the incident by the villagers of Shirasgaon.
