Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a proud father to his children, Yaani and Shora Siddiqui, with Shora currently training to become an actor. Nawazuddin recently shared his approach to encouraging his children to strive for excellence, embrace reading, and value art. In an interview with ANI, he emphasized the role of art in people’s lives and noted that it is something that develops over time. He praised his daughter for participating in Shakespeare workshops at her acting school in London.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui encourages children to pursue excellence and art; says, “ I used to put hardcore pressure on them to decide what they wanted to see”
He said, “Art is not a regular thing, you have to develop a taste for it. I have been pushing my kids to appreciate and learn about art. My daughter is 14 years old and she is already doing Shakespeare workshops, in London. From a very early age, I used to put hardcore pressure on them to decide what they wanted to see, otherwise, they’d get lost because there was so much meaningless content everywhere so you’d have to be selective about what you want to watch and not watch.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui had previously mentioned his daughter’s passion for acting, often sharing videos of her performances on social media. The Sacred Games actor then highlighted the significance of reading and criticized the detrimental effects of doomscrolling online. When asked how he encourages his children to engage with literature and art amid the current trend of excessive online activity, he advised, “Read Manto, Premchand, Bharat Muni’s Natyashashtra… we have great writers in our country.”
Addressing the importance of family values and education, Nawazuddin emphasized the need for a shift in how children are raised. He concluded, “The whole ecosystem is to be blamed. Entire fabric will have to be changed.”
On the work front, Nawazuddin Siddiqui last appeared in Zee5’s Rautu Ka Raaz. He will next appear in Section 108 and Noorani Chehra, among other projects.
