A speeding pickup truck rammed a bike carrying a couple and their child, dragging the vehicle for nearly six metres before fleeing the scene in Jaipur.
The incident, which occurred on the ring road near a toll plaza, was captured on CCTV. Police said the bike was making a U-turn at an under construction intersection when the truck hit them from behind. CCTV footage showed the over-speeding truck colliding with the bike, tossing it into the air, and leaving the victims injured on the roadside.
The victims, identified as Hansraj Saini, his wife Santosh Saini, and their son, sustained serious injuries and were hospitalised.
The impact was so severe that the bike hit a divider and was completely shattered, while the family was thrown off on the road.
Police officer Ranjeet Singh said the accident occurred when the family was attempting a U-turn at an under construction cut on the ring road, during which the speeding pickup hit them from behind.
The driver abandoned the truck at the toll plaza and fled following the accident.
Police have launched a search operation to arrest the driver.
