Streets were flooded in the city of Anna Maria, on an island abutting Florida’s Tampa Bay, on Thursday, September 26, as residents braced for Hurricane Helene’s expected landfall.

Footage released by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office shows inundated sidewalks, streets, and yards.

A storm warning was in effect for Anna Maria Island on Thursday, with weather officials warning of the potential for the storm surge to peak at eight feet.
