In a bid to tap the burgeoning international interest in content from Latin America and Spain, Chile’s Rizoma, run by Sebastian Freund, and Ángel Zambrano’s Atlanta-based Condeco have launched international sales company, Rizco Content Sales.
The new sales agency follows their successful partnership in the international sales of the Chilean miniseries “Cecilia Incomparable,” based on the life of Chilean singer Cecilia, and the Argentine-Chilean film “Salvajes,” both licensed to Prime Video.
Unveiled during the 4th Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid (Oct. 1-4), it will be based in both Santiago and Atlanta.
By leveraging their deep experience and connections in the industry, Freund and Zambrano also plan to to participate in the co-production of film and series projects from their early stages.
“Sebastián and I share a passion for telling stories that resonate with audiences around the world. The content being produced in Latin America and Spain is increasingly gaining international attention. This partnership will not only allow us to expand our horizons but also bring unique and powerful stories to a global audience,” said Zambrano, who is Venezuelan and a former Turner executive.
“With the advent of streaming platforms and the subsequent increase in demand for Spanish-language content, there has been a boom in production across Latin America and Spain,” Zambrano told Variety.
Said Freund: “This partnership, with a focus on international sales, opens up endless possibilities for regional productions in the audiovisual market—whether films, series, third-party projects, or co-productions. Today, having this sales arm is crucial for the economic viability of these projects.”
Rizco has just signed on to represent the following productions: Chile-Argentina-Spain co-production “Winnipeg, The Ship of Hope,” an animated feature film produced by El Otro Film Producciones, Antoni Marin Vila, Dibulitoon Factory, Dibulitoon Studio, and Malabar Producciones; “The Great History of Chilean Tennis,” a documentary produced by Surreal and directed by Cristián Leighton, and Alberto Lecchi’s “A Distant Place,” a co-production between Argentina, Chile and Spain, produced by Twins Latin Films in co-production with Compañía Filmakers Monkeys and Rizoma Films. The drama participates in the Co-Production and Financing Forum at this year’s Iberseries & Platino Industria.
Condeco is behind the series “Vencer o Morir” (2024), an original Prime Video production, and the film “La Casaca Bendita” (2025), currently in pre-production with Frontera Films.
Rizoma produced “Papá al Rescate” (2023), licensed to Netflix, where it ranked among the global Top 10 for non-English language films, and is now preparing its remake for Mexico/U.S. Hispanic audiences in collaboration with Animal/Federation. Its theatrical release, which lured more than 300,000 admissions, spiked awareness so that when it streamed on Netflix, the platform reported more that 1.5 million single user views the first month, Freund said.
Additionally, Rizoma produced the most-watched film in Chilean cinema history, “Stefan vs Kramer,” which sold over two million admissions in local theaters and was licensed by Netflix and Prime Video. Rizoma has also co-produced films such notable titles as “Salvajes” (2024),” La Misma Sangre” (2019), ”El Hilo Rojo” (2016), and priest scandal drama “El Bosque de Karadima.”
