KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) believes the party’s central leadership will make the right decision over possible partners for the next state elections.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, expressed optimism that BN leadership would do its best to achieve victory in the 17th Sabah election.
Bung, who is also a Lamag assemblyman, acknowledged that the central leadership would decide whether BN would contest on its own or work with another political party in the state polls based on recommendations by Sabah Barisan after reaching a consensus with local components.
“For now, Sabah Barisan has yet to agree to work with other parties although early talks have taken place,” he said, after breaking fast with Zone 6 Sabah Umno members in Lahad Datu on Sunday (March 24).
Zone 6 comprises the Lahad Datu, Kalabakan, Tawau and Semporna divisions.
Bung, who is also Sabah Umno chief, said it was too early to decide on the question of election partners.
He pointed out that BN chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had also previously said such a decision would only be made after the dissolution of the Sabah state assembly.
