SHAH ALAM: Four men have been arrested for allegedly smuggling over RM10.3mil worth of syabu into the country.

Federal Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said the four were arrested following a raid on a terrace house in Selangor on March 27.

“We arrested four men aged 23 to 40, and seized 312.7kg of syabu worth over RM10.3mil after checking a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) and two cars.

“We believe the drugs came from Thailand,” he told reporters on Saturday (March 30).

He said the syndicate would smuggle the drugs from Thailand via Bukit Kayu Hitam using vehicles with special compartments.

“They would stop in Kedah and hold the drugs in a store until they were satisfied that they were not being followed.

“The suspects would then bring the drugs over to Selangor and store it at the double-storey terrace house,” he said, adding that the drugs were meant to be distributed within the Klang Valley as well as to be smuggled out to other countries.

He said the suspects did not have any prior records and had been remanded until April 6.

“We also seized four vehicles, RM1,874 cash, 8,730 Thai Baht (RM1,133.90) and jewellery worth RM41,618,” he said.
