Cameron Smith’s April fools’ hoodwink briefly startled the golf community after the Australian golf champion appeared to have snipped off his trademark mullet ahead of the Masters.
On Monday, Smith’s LIV Golf team Ripper GC uploaded an image of Smith with a fresh haircut, captioning the post: “Meet the new Cam Smith.”
The picture was accompanied by a quote attributed to Smith: “I was just bored of the mullet.”
Understandably, the internet responded with a flood of furious responses — that is, until they saw the April 1st date.
“We’ve had a bit of fun on April fools’ ’s Day, but no need to worry because the Cam Smith mullet is still very much alive and well,” Ripper GC posted a few hours later.

Smith finished second at the most recent LIV event in Hong Kong, losing on the first hole of a playoff, with another event in Miami before he heads to Augusta, where he has four top-10 finishes in the past six years,
“I think it looks a bit better,” Smith said in 2021, reinforcing his commitment to his mullet.
“My girlfriend doesn’t like it. My mum doesn’t like it. Not many females in my family like it, but I’m thinking all the boys love it so … I’m gonna keep it I think for a little bit.”
