Jason Day told to take Malbon vest off by Augusta National – MASHAHER

Jason Day’s attire in 2024 has been pushing the boundaries — but it all went a little too far for Augusta National.

The Australian revealed on Saturday that he was asked to remove an item of clothing during the second round by Masters Tournament organisers.

The item in question was a white Malbon sweater vest with ‘Malbon Golf Championship’ printed in large black and red letters.

Day was described by one social media user as looking like a ‘pack of cigarettes’.

The vest mysteriously disappeared mid-round, but it wasn’t a change in temperature that made the Australian remove the item.

He told reporters on Saturday that he had little choice in the matter as he was asked to take it off with no explanation.

“I didn’t ask… They said, can you take it off? I said, yeah, no worries,” Day said.

“Respectfully, you do that because it’s all about the tournament here, and I understand that.

“I respect the tournament. That’s what we’re here to do is try and play and win the green jacket.”

Day’s attire has regularly set tongues wagging in 2024 since he signed an endorsement deal with Malbon.

During the third round, he was once again wearing oversized pants, which have been dubbed as ‘MC Hammer pants’.

Speaking to Fox Sports’ Paul Gow after the round, Day said he enjoyed wearing clothes that got people talking.

“It’s very different. I think it goes to the younger generation which is good thing,” Day said.

“It’s nice to be able to wear something that’s being talked about, that’s my job: Play as good as I can and get on TV, and do as good a job as I can wearing the clothes.”
