Yale University Jewish student ‘jabbed in the eye’ by anti-Israel protesters – MASHAHER

A Jewish student journalist at Yale University in the United States was allegedly jabbed in the eye with a flagpole during an anti-Israeli protest at the university on Saturday night.

The student, Sahar Tartak, who is the editor-in-chief of the campus publication Yale Free Press, alleged that she was surrounded by pro-Palestine demonstrators while she was trying to record the protest march.

“One of them takes their Palestinian flag and waves it in my face and then jabs it in the face,” Tartak was quoted as saying by the Jerusalem Post.

Tartak alleged that she and a friend were singled out by the protesters for wearing Hasidic Jewish attire.

“There’s hundreds of people taunting me and waving the middle finger at me, and then this person waves a Palestinian flag in my face and jabs it in my eye,” she said.

Tartak, who is a history student at the Ivy League university, was briefly hospitalised after the incident. She told the Jerusalem Post that she reported the assault to campus police, but she is unaware of any action taken.

The student further alleged that “These students are violating every policy in the books; they should have been disbanded immediately.” She added, “These students have taken over campus, and it’s an intimidation tactic.”

Tartak demanded that the campus police remove the protesters, but was told that they needed further authorisation.
