Tarun Shukla, an aviation journalist who posted the video, wrote on X: “Cockroaches and in the food area of a plane (anywhere for that matter) are just truly awful…”
The video has once again raised questions about the airline’s hygiene standards on board. In response to the incident, IndiGo has taken immediate action by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting their entire fleet to ensure the safety of their passengers.
“We are aware of the video that was circulated on social media showing an unclean corner in one of our aircraft. Our staff promptly took the necessary action onboard. As a precautionary measure, we immediately cleaned the entire fleet and carried out fumigation and disinfection procedures. At IndiGo, we maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to ensure a safe, hassle-free experience and regret any inconvenience caused to the passengers”, Indigo said in a press statement.
However, the users were not impressed. A user wrote on X, “Very arrogant, lame, and irresponsible response from the side of Indigo. DGCA should take notice of this incident and take strict action against the airline.”
It is worth noting that this is not the first time when the airline has been in the news for the wrong reasons.
In January 2024, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued a notice to Indigo after a passenger had to go through one of the ‘worst experiences’ with Indigo airlines as she was sold a sandwich that allegedly had a worm wriggling in it.
