The trailer of the upcoming crime drama, Tipppsy, was launched today at a multiplex in Mumbai. The event was attended by director Deepak Tijori, lead actresses Alankrita Sahai, Natasha Suri, Kainaat Arora, Nazia Hussain and Sonia Birje and actors Harjinder Singh and Mandeep Kaur Sandhu. Deepak’s mentor Mahesh Bhatt and close friend Pooja Bhatt also graced the occasion.
Tipppsy trailer launch: Deepak Tijori revealed he had vowed never to work with multiple heroines after the photoshoot experience for Pooja Bhatt-Raveena Tandon co-starrer Pehla Nasha: “Mere pasine nikal gaye the”
Deepak Tijori said, “I am thankful to these girls. They have been extremely cooperative. They played characters which are, in no way, close to what their actual personality is. They transformed themselves. I was scared to have five girls on the sets. Earlier, I have worked with two heroines. Then, I worked with Pooja Bhatt and Raveena Tandon in Pehla Nasha (1993). Tab maine kasam khayi thi ki do heroines ke saath main kabhi kaam nahin karunga!”
Pooja Bhatt, at this point, added, “We didn’t have a single scene together.” Deepak replied, “Yes, but during that one photoshoot with them, mere pasine nikal gaye the! Hence, I had my apprehensions. But these five girls have been wonderful.”
Later on, during the question-and-answer round with the media, Pooja Bhatt clarified, “We were never on the set together. The make-up artist hadn’t shown up that day. Photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha did the make-up for me as well as Raveena. God bless his soul! So, the behind-the-scenes stories are far more interesting than the movies we put out.”
A journalist, meanwhile, asked Deepak Tijori about proudly flaunting his salt-and-pepper hair on screen. Deepak answered, “I actually support that. When I see Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Richard Gere playing their age, I wonder why can’t we make cinema in which we can play our age. So, I think it’s high time we do that and stop dancing with the 20-year-old actress around the trees!”
Tipppsy releases in cinemas on May 10.
