NEW YORK, May 15 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.64 percent to 104.346 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro increased to 1.0878 U.S. dollars from 1.0820 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2680 U.S. dollars from 1.2589 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 154.91 Japanese yen, lower than 156.43 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9030 Swiss francs from 0.9067 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3603 Canadian dollars from 1.3652 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.6648 Swedish kronor from 10.8175 Swedish kronor.
